Fallin'Love 2020

“Fallin'Love” is a short experimental dance video created during Covid-19 quarantine in Singapore, May 2020. Cai Ying is trying to explore a motion of "falling"  in a different time perspective with a limit space through camera. 

Nanyang Jellyfish 2017

“Nanyang Jelly Fish” is a short experimental dance film, a collaboration between Cai Ying and the all-female video production team from Sixpence Studio in Singapore, to explore feminine experiences of the body during migration in surroundings that are so ever-changing that seems fluidic.

wǒ-mén 2016

wǒ-mén, “we” in Chinese, but is homophonous with “women” in English, explores the identities and roles the “other” gender(s) can assume in an open space. “What is within, myself, and what is outside, separate.”(Iris Marion Young) Prompted by this call for philosophical reflection, choreographer Cai Ying invites the audience to explore with her the interiors of the mind where everything is absurd and beyond reason, as she also seeks to disclose the affective conditions and dimensions of female embodied consciousness as shaped by societal pressures and dynamics today

Moving/Void 2012

The Chinese Art of Moving in and out of the Void.
Moving/Void is an exploratory exercise on the hidden aesthetics of Chinese dance. Two modern dancers of different generations, Francis Leung and Cai Ying, would be working along side with Hoyingfung, a multi-disciplinary performance artist, in search of virtuoso in live art and its ever-innovative contexts buried in traditional Chinese dance movement. Impromptu musicians Lui Ngao Yuen and Wong Hin Yan, would join hands with folk singer Peng Zhang and designers, Moon Yip and Bert Wong to weave in and out of the moving void, a mesmerizing tapestry in the making live on stage.

On the Road Again 2011-2013

"On the Road Again: A Private" is a project with a combination of multiple theatrical art forms, such as dance, music, drama, visual arts and physical environment design, which create by a group of artists shared the experience of “living elsewhere”, finding selves encountering new contexts, unexpected events, and unavoidable changes. The artists believe the best way to stay true to who we are, is to persist in finding the simplest things in life: a nice cup of coffee, a down-to- earth shelter, a soft pillow.
